Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship will feature the largest youth and teen dedicated facilities in their fleet when Norwegian Breakaway launches next year.

Dubbed the ‘Splash Academy’ and spanning Decks 12 and 13, the youth-specific area will be located adjacent to the family-friendly cabins and feature areas designed with three age groups in mind, while ‘Entourage’ on Deck 16 will play host to teens aged 13 to 17 years.

“The best family vacation will get even better when our new ship Norwegian Breakaway launches in April of next year,” Norwegian Cruise Line CEO Kevin Sheehan said.

“We know how extremely important it is for families to offer engaging, interactive programs for children and teens in a comfortable, well-equipped environment. Norwegian Breakaway will incorporate our biggest youth facilities with the best youth programming at sea with our new Splash Academy and Entourage programs.”

Parents will have access to the line’s ‘e-Youth’ tablet-based electronic registration system which will guide them through the secure sign-in process utilizing their cabin card and a password.

Three to five year-olds will have a dedicated space located near reception decorated with vibrant colours and featuring wall mounted activities while six to nine year olds can keep busy in a separate area complete with building block activity centres, an interactive dance mat with large TV screen and video game stations.

Deck 13 will house the 10 to 12 year olds and will feature a multipurpose dance space with touch screen jukebox, comfortable bean bags, art and craft centre and dedicated gaming stations.

Teens will be hosted in ‘Entourage’ located on Deck 16 adjacent to the video arcade and an outdoor dining venue.

This dedicated space will feature air hockey and foosball tables and an arcade centre with five separate areas complete with large screens to play video games. At night, ‘Entourage’ transforms into a teens-only nightclub.

Norwegian Breakaway will sail on year-round itineraries from New York City from April 2013.
