Norwegian Star arrived in her new homeport of Tampa last week to will sail a series of seven-day Western Caribbean itineraries through to April 2012.
A first for the cruise line, the 2,348-passenger ship will visit ports including Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras, Belize, Costa Maya and Cozumel.
“Tampa offers our guests another homeport choice in Florida, joining Miami and Port Canaveral. The newly-refurbished Norwegian Star offers all the benefits of ‘Freestyle Cruising’, along with a port-rich itinerary to the Western Caribbean,” Norwegian Cruise Line CEO Kevin Sheehan said.
Tampa will continue being a homeport for Norwegian when the line sends 2,224-passenger Norwegian Dawn to the port on 11 November 2012 to sail seven-day Western Caribbean itineraries through to 14 April 2013.
“The addition of Norwegian Cruise Line in Tampa is further testimony that Tampa is the heart of a strong and growing cruise market of eight million residents in west and central Florida,” Tampa Port Authority chief executive and port director Richard Wainio said.
