It’s been an exciting time at Avalon Waterways, with the line introducing an 11-day Peruvian adventure through the Amazon in 2014 and two new ships within the one week.
As part of the line’s 10th anniversary celebrations, passengers can expect new itineraries, new theme cruises and new ships, with the launch of a fifth suite ship, Avalon Expression, next month and three more next year when Avalon Impression, Avalon Poetry II and Avalon Illumination are welcomed.
The Amazon will be graced by Avalon’s new 45 metre Aria, a 16-suite ship featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, an outdoor Jacuzzi, gym, indoor and outdoor lounges, a bar, boutique, dining room and open-air sun deck.
Offering three-night cruises as part of an 11-day itinerary from Lima, Aria will take her passengers deep into the Amazon to view the unique wildlife and visit indigenous communities and the Pacaya Samiria Reserve with a local naturalist.
The itinerary will also take in the ancient Andean city of Cusco, the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the
ruins of Machu-Picchu with an optional two-day land tour offering the opportunity to take in the Nazca lines.
Meanwhile over in the Dutch town of Middelburg last week, Avalon Artistry II was christened in a canal-side ceremony by president and CEO of Philippine-based Baron Travel and past president of the Philippine Travel Agencies Association, Marilen Sandejas-Yaptangco.
With so many new ships on offer, the line has also decided to expand on its selection of theme cruises in 2014 with new itineraries focusing on beer tasting, golf, wellness and World War I history as part of the 26 different European itineraries and a further 12 itineraries worldwide.
