When she sailed into Brisbane yesterday following her farewell voyage to the South Pacific, Pacific Sun also sailed into the Australian record books.
Joining the P&O Cruises fleet in 2004, the superliner achieved the following:
2707 days deployed (excluding dry docks)
767,600 nautical miles sailed (the equivalent of 30 times around the world)
314 cruises with an average duration of 8.6 nights
1,168 port calls at 80 separate destinations
19 different countries visited
178 visits to Noumea
571,829 passengers
“Pacific Sun has been the backbone of the growth and resurgence of cruising in Australia,” Carnival Australia CEO Ann Sherry said in a video tribute to the crew.
“None of that would have been possible without all of you and the customer service you provided to all of those passengers. You can all give yourselves a pat on the back for your great achievements.”
