The one where Costa Favalosa named her godmother…

Italian film star Margareth Madè of Oscar and Golden Globe nominated movie “Baarìa” has been named as the godmother of Costa Favalosa.

In a naming ceremony to be held in the Piazza Unità d’Italia in Trieste on 2 July 2011, Ms Madè will break a bottle of Aneri Prosecco across Favalosa’s bow confirming the ship’s name.

“Margareth Madè and Costa Cruises share the same values of Italian style: beauty, refinement and a strong personality. It could only have been this fabulous actress, who rose by right to the international elite of Italian icons, to become the muse of our flagship and Costa’s unmistakable world-renowned style,” said Pier Luigi Foschi, Chairman and CEO of Costa Crociere S.p.A.

Carrying up to 3,800 passengers, 114,500 tonne Costa Favalosa will be the largest ship in the line’s fleet and will set sail on a three-day maiden voyage from Venice on 4 July 2011 visiting Dubrovnik, and Koper.

For the remainder of the 2011 northern summer season, Costa Favalosa will sail seven-day voyages from Venice and Bari to Olympia, Smyrna, Istanbul and Dubrovnik.
