Four ‘Grand Voyages’ have been announced for Holland America Line’s flagship ms Amsterdam and ms Prinsendam in 2013.

Visiting more than 120 ports in 65 countries, the ‘Grand Voyages’ also feature several maiden calls including Makassar in Indonesia, Penneshaw in Australia, Majuro in the Marshall Islands and Pohnpei in Micronesia.

“We’ve designed Holland America Line’s 2013 ‘Grand Voyages’ itineraries to feature some of the most sought after sights and experiences in the world,” Holland America Line executive vice president, marketing, sales and guest programs Richard Meadows said.

“Even the most experienced traveller will be inspired and impressed by our carefully crafted selection of port calls, maiden visits and extended stays.”

ms Amsterdam will sail a roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale on her 115-day ‘Grand World Voyage’ on 5 January 2013 as part of the 55th anniversary of world cruising for HAL.

Featuring eight overnight calls, the itinerary incorporates ports in the South Pacific, New Zealand, Australia, Asia, South America, the Caribbean and Africa with a journey around the Cape of Good Hope.

Shorter segments from 24 to 51 days will also be available for passengers.

Amsterdam will also embark on a 75-day ‘Grand Pacific and Far East Voyage’ sailing from Vancouver on 20 September 2013 or on a round-trip from Los Angeles on 23 September taking in Micronesia, China, Japan, the Phillippines, the South Pacific, Indonesia and the French Polynesian islands.

Overnight ports of call include Hong Kong, Shanghai, Kobe and Singapore with shorter segments on offer from 24 to 51-days.

HAL’s intimate explorer ms Prinsendam will depart on a roundtrip ‘Grand South America and Antarctica’ 68-day voyage offering overnight visits to Calleo in Peru and Buenos Aires, Argentina, Rio de Janeiro and Manaus in Brazil.

Seven days of cruising down the Amazon River are included in the South American circumnavigation along with a daylight passage through the Panama Canal.

32 or 36-day segments to or from Buenos Aires are also available for passengers.

On her return to Fort Lauderdale on 14 March 2013, Prinsendam will embark on a 64-day ‘Grand Mediterranean Voyage’ across the Atlantic to the Mediterranean and the Balkans, visiting unique ports including Agadir, Marmaris and Korcula.

Passengers will overnight in Istanbul, Piraeus, Sorrento, Venice, Funchal, Madeira and Barcelona.
