Being run on Carnival’s Australian Facebook page, entries will open on Monday 10 October to name the 56-metre long ‘Thrill Slide’ that will grace Carnival Spirit post dry-dock in January 2012.
The winner will win a trip to the USA to sail onboard the new ‘Aussie’ ship and be one of the first to experience the thrill slide.
Guests can expect to drop ten-metres almost vertically down the new ‘Thrill Slide’ before it shoots over the side of the ship and loops back onto the pool deck.
Carnival began involving its guests in the decision making process of its most recent ship Carnival Magic and is continuing the trend with current build Carnival Breeze along with its new ‘Fun Ship 2.0’ initiatives.
“We want to make sure we bring the Aussie spirit to Carnival Spirit. So we’re reaching out through social media and asking Australians to help us “Aussify” the ship. The first order of business? Naming the Thrill Slide,” said Jennifer Vandredeeke, director Carnival Cruise Lines.
Carnival Spirit will be the first ship in the line’s soon to be 24-strong fleet, to be home-ported outside the USA. She will be based in Australia for year-round cruising from October 2012.
I have to say that I love the way that Carnival is embracing the true spirit of social media. Getting their guests involved in major decisions when building and enhancing their brand is a very smart way to ensure loyalty.
Who knows what other parts of the ship’s ‘Aussification’ guests will be involved in…I guess we just have to wait and see…
