Celebrity Cruises has joined sister-line Royal Caribbean in implementing a per person fee increase across several of their specialty dining venues effective 1 September 2011.
The French-inspired, ‘Murano’, which can be found on all Solstice-class vessels, along with sister French dining options found on Millennium-class ships, will increase their per person fee from $35 to $40.
Celebrity Eclipse and Celebrity Silhouette’s ‘Qsine’ will also increase their per person dining fee from $35 to $40 with the move set to be implemented on Infinity, Summit and Millennium post dry-dock.
The ‘Lawn Club Grill’ which only recently debuted on Celebrity Silhouette will increase from $30 to $40 per person.
Passengers who have made reservations in these specialty restaurants prior to the price hike will not be affected.
Personally, I’m not someone who tends to dine in specialty restaurants as the food in the main dining room and buffet is always enough variety for me. However, I understand the benefits of choice on board ships, especially when travelling on an extended voyage.
The value represented by the specialty restaurants on board Celebrity is magnificent, but I do think that the increase is a tad much, especially at ‘The Lawn Club’ which only just launched on Celebrity Silhouette weeks ago.
What are your thoughts regarding the increase? Do you elect to dine in specialty dining venues when cruising?
