Pacific Pearl will provide the backdrop for the renowned Vivid Sydney light and sound event on 24 and 25 May.
This marks the first time a cruise ship has been a part of the festival, with the almost 2,000 passengers aboard the voyage that will set sail from Auckland on 21 May being given front row seats to the ‘See Voyage’ display.
“It’s unusual for a P&O Cruises’ ship to have an overnight transit call at the Overseas Passenger Terminal on a cruise itinerary that was determined two years ago,” P&O Cruises senior vice president Tammy Marshall said.
“To have Pacific Pearl at Circular Quay on the first two nights of Vivid Sydney and to be able to project images of the sea and the islands on her side in an extravaganza of light and sound, was an opportunity that was just too good to miss.”
P&O Cruises’ ‘See Voyage’ display will run for five minutes every half-hour from 6pm until midnight and is expected to take viewers on a virtual cruise.
The best vantage point for those wishing to experience the extravaganza will be the Sydney Opera House and surrounds.
